?Hi, I have had acid reflux (first atactk = whilst on holiday, in a very warm country, 4 weeks ago (first time in my life, age = 33), i am not that much over weight, just 1.5 kg over normal, thats normal. Doesn't have anything to do with my wieght. Please read carefully: -Issue -I have acid reflux, i have only slept 2 hours this morning with the help of paracetamol, doc said:I have to bare it, and have icecream, and continue with 1 cap of 20mg omeprazol and also i had zantax tablet (didnt do anything), and also 2 spoons gaviscon, i think the grilled fish kicked it off lastnight, i have had it since i come back form holiday 24 weeks ago (acid relux).I had my h pylori blood test on wed, doc said it takes 7 10 days, cant this be speeded up?She said no, just have icecream to cool yourself.I have the burning sensation, my blood is like flowing up my leg, when i feel the reflux coming on.I have elevated my bed by 6 inches, and used 2 pillows last night, last issue i had was on monday night, ladt night i did the following:My body continues to burn since yesterday eve, my head and my body is also fatiguing ( as I havn't slept much, only 2 hrs as i said) -Last night -6.30pm fish chips + frozen chips (brocoli + carrots, potatos) all boiled grilled.8pm I did some skipping for 2-3 mins in the garden with my rope.8.30pm I had some milk (cold, green top semi skimmed)I then went for a walk (i walk quiet fast, not as fast as usual)8.50pm I did some stretching, where i kneeled down on my knees on the floor, and stretched forward streching my back.(at this point i felt my acid coming back up, and buring horrible sensation)I then wlaked oiff and had some water.9.00pm Had some water9.30pm 1 omeprazole + 1 zantax (for heart burn)1 paracetamolThen i felt tighteining in my lungs, and as i couldnt sleep, and the pain was bad, i called the nhs nurse 0845 46 47, and she said i needed to be checked out, so she called an ambulance.I tried to stay calm, but the pain, and the stress killed me,Ambulance checked everything, blood pressure, heart, sugar (diabetes) = all ok.Did similar tests at the hospital and i was ok.The other thing is, my bowls are not clearing, i feel better when they do clear, but that doesnt help with the acid, horrible feeling in my body, hands, my head (feel numb), and also burning.I then waited 3 hours at A E (doc checked me again, did a chest xray (as i had tightening around my throat, middle chest) + heart monitor and told me nothing they could do, made it very clear, hence blunt words! stressed me as i was sleepy, fatigued, and tired.I then had to walk home with my dad, which was 1/2 mile + walk, and it was cold. When i got home 3am Everything was the same, same issues, i had some cold milk, and some water.I was burning and my teeth stained, whilst i slept, i slept with the pillow under my upper back ( 2 stacke pillows (did put some pressure on my stomach) I also had elevated my bed by 6 inches. Now I have read many accounts of apple cider vinegar, but i am not sure, if it will help, or make my condition worse. My issues = i cant sleep, i get heart burn when the acid comes up, and also I have constapation and prunes are not helping. ( I had 2 prunes yesterday). So does the apple cider vinegar neutralize (kill) the extra acid? And how do I clear my constapation, prunes? How do i deal with gas building up?I cant sleep, and they must be a way to kill the acid, omeprazole isnt working i think, as the level of acid has gone a bit far last night. I cant wait untill wed for the h pylori blood test results, as i need to deal with the gas, acid now. Some suggested Apple cider vinegar ona forum to someone else?Doc said have ice cream to neutralize the acid, and kill cool yourself, i did earlier but didnt do much.Pls help. All 3 things are happening at the same time.My meals are now milk, lentils with rice ( samll portions)I had some honey now, but my bowls are hard, and thats bad as you know.I stay calm by watching movie clips on my laptop, as i am not presently working, as i am a freelancer, and i have just returned form my holiday. Thanks in advance.Tovia

Wow, lots of advice here from peolpe that don't understand how the body works, especially Dan Van. Yes, apple cider vinegar can help somewhat, but hydrochloric acid will do the job. As we age, we produce less and less stomach acid (hydrochloric acid). By the time we are 70, we are producing about 5% of the stomach acid we did when we were 25 years old. If you will notice, young peolpe rarely every get acid reflux. Processed foods use up the HCL (hydrochloric acid) leaving you with little to nothing to digest primarily proteins. The parietal cells in the stomach produce HCL at 0.08 pH and that is close to pure acid. Your stomach lining is protected and designed to have a low pH. In fact, if your pH is too high, you won't be digesting calcium, magnesium, and zinc in the jejunum just below the pyloric sphincter. The pH of the stomach needs to be between 1.5 and 3.0 to give you proper digestion. When the pH gets too high (above 3.0), the food in your stomach begins to rot and putrefy. This is when lactic acid forms and gives you that acid feeling and methane gas that gives you the bloated feeling. Taking an antacid is the dumbest thing you can do to solve this problem. Antacids have a very high pH and are basic (alkaline). Yes, this stops the pain for a short while because it neutralizes the acid, but it also stops your digestion and creates all kinds of toxins. People who take antacids regularly end up many times with osteoporosis, low bone mass, calcium deficient diseases, and many digestive ailments. Taking a once living source HCL will stop the indigestion in about 3 minutes. This is because you will be digesting as nature intended. If you add a potassium salt from a once living source, like tomatoes, you will also re-methylate your cells and extend your life expectancy. It is also good to take a DIGEST that will relieve your pancreas of stress put on it by eating the bad foods we eat in America. Once you do this process, you will find you will start losing weight around your stomach as well. That is a side benefit to digesting properly.Antacids were designed as part of a protocol for an ulcer. Even though there are far better ways to treat an ulcer than using that protocol, it can work, but at a cost to your health. Doctors attempt to kill the H.pylori bacteria with 2 types of antibiotics and an antacid that generally gets rid of an ulcer in about 11 days. Antacids were never designed to stop acid reflux. That is just another way drug companies are expanding their market share. These guys do NOT care about your health. You are a commodity to them. Antacids have become a very big business in America. The grain being fed to animals has created a huge digestive problems for them. Over 1/2 of all the bicarbonate made in America is going to cattle and animals being fed that stupid grain.A certified nutritional therapist can test you in a minute or so and tell you exactly how much of the HCL, potassium activator, and digest you need to solve your issue and get digesting like your body was designed to do.@Dan Van, Your stomach is only responsible for the acidity of the stomach so the next process can happen properly. The jejunum has cells lining the walls that send a hormone to the pancreas liver to secrete bicarbonate to neutralize the acidic nature of the chyme as it enters the small intestines to allow further secretions and absorptions of other vitamins in the intestines. The body has 3 buffering systems that work 24/7 and their are various pH levels throughout the body. Sanitization of the stomach is a major part of having good HCL production and a pH of between 1.5 and 3.0. It is NOT always highly acidic, only in healthy peolpe with good digestion going on. Over 40% or more (especially Americans it's higher) have hypochloridia due to the low stomach acid. Look at all the antacids being prescribed and you will see a huge number (millions) have a high pH. Where did you get your education? You need to get your money back guy.good luck to you

Asking for suggestions on my meal plan ?Hey ernoyvee!! I will tell you the truth I am obese (4'11 230 lbs) but until my health started deteriorating and I was required to start on insulin for type 2 diabetes I was okay with who I am. I am now concerned with getting healthy as much as I am with losing weight. I have spent the last several weeks working on a change (I refuse to diet anymore) in my eating that I could live with. This was a good day for me. Tell me what you think of my new meal plan and please feel free to add any changes or additions you think I should make.Fluids: Before each meal: 1 cup hot lemon water w/1 TSP honeyWith each meal/snack: 20 oz (or more) waterAfter each meal: 1 cup herbal tea no sweetenerAt snack time: 1 cup hot OS Organic Pure Cranberry juice heated with 1 cup water and 2 TSP Sugar-Free Apple Cider Mix (to take out the bitterness of the cranberry juice)______________________________________ Breakfast: 1 serving Flax Meal Peanut Butter Hot Cereal Recipe w/ 2 chopped prunes and 1/4 cp blueberries1 sliced tomato1 banana or tangerine8 oz skim milk______________________________________ Snack: 4 celery sticks w/ 2 TBSP Smart Balance PB______________________________________ Lunch: Homemade Veg Soup made w/ organic low sodium veggie stock1 cup red beans and rice (haven't found a good home recipe yet so I am using Glory's brand canned Red Beans Rice)Salad w 1 TBSP Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Balsamic Vinegar1 serving SF jello______________________________________ Snack: 1 apple4 celery sticks w/ 2 wedges Light Laughing Cow cheese______________________________________ Dinner: Vegetable Soup and Salad (as above for lunch)1 small pouch Chicken of the Sea Salmon (1 pouch =1 serving)1 serving SF JelloDessert: 10 seedless grapes (frozen)1 serving of low cal homemade Hot Chocolate (made with skim milk, 1/2 TBSP cocoa, 1TBSP sugar)______________________________________ Along with this I will be increasing my physical activity slowly but surely. I will start out with 10 minutes a day of Walk Away the Pounds Aerobics and 5 minutes easy toning. I want to add 5 minutes to my time each week until I build myself up without burning myself out.So any suggestions? I appreciate all the help guys!!Okay so far THANX so much to Dave for the encouragement !!! And to Michael for the suggestions and because of the great observations I am making a change to the following:1)Breakfast: Replace the PB Hot cereal with either plain oatmeal with flax seed, prunes and blueberries or 1/2 cup egg beaters with chopped mushrooms and chopped peppers2) I will no longer add honey with my lemon water tea 3)will cut the hot chocolate down to 3x a weekAnd sorry I can't say for sure on the SF jello but I will only have the SF jello as a just in case filler. Not necessary everyday. I appreciate any other suggestions!!!

that it does nothing BUT they were all low carebrs AND didn't include honey (not as a sweetener but for the gluconic acid). I have been making Kombucha tea since January (I don't know about health claims yet but I feel it doing something) and it's basically acetic acid gluconic acid the same make up of apple cider vinegar and honey. One lady said her mother in law was literally transformed in 30 days lost weight, hair grew, she looked 20 years younger. I tried adding it to my diet but I hit overload with the Kombucha tea already in my diet. I sure don't recommend mixing the two.Dr.Jarvis folk remedy included 2 tsp. raw apple cider vinegar 2 tsp. raw honey with lunch dinner.================================================I would highly suggest kombucha tea. It uses real sugar but the yeasts and bacteria transform the sugar and tea into beneficial acids (acetic and gluconic and glucoronic precursors). I have been drinking it and brewing it since January it's just sugar sweetened tea that is converted with a SCOBY so it only costs a few cents to make. I started it for the health benefits (can't really attest to any at this point) but continue it for the soda pop like taste and naturally occurring carbonation. I am highly sensitive to sugar (I get bacterial infections) and caffeine but I can drink a couple of liters of this a day with no problems. (I do brew it to the sugar free stage to make sure though) It's all rather weird and scary but you might want to stop by a health food store and sample GT's Kombucha tea (do not try Carpe Diem brand, it is nasty). It's not cheap at $4 bottle but you can brew it cheap yourself if you like it.=============================================from site below Acetic acid is found in vinegar. Yes, what you use on salads and vegetables. Touted in folk remedies, vinegar actually does have some benefits. Through the ages, vinegar has been used to increase appetite, offset fatigue and boost mineral absorption. Vinegar increases the absorption of calcium and, in animal studies, vinegar has been shown to augment glycogen formation therein lies offsets fatigue. Vinegar may help prevent fatigue by improving the body's ability to load carbohydrates into muscles (rather than allowing the carbs to flow into fat-storing pathways, which contributes to a lack of energy and vitality).
